- A test from a lobby, café, terrace, or another apartment.
- A screenshot without a date, context, or upload result.
How to ask a host for useful proof
Hosts may not know networking terminology, and that does not necessarily mean the property is unsuitable. But for a work-critical booking, a lack of verifiable information should lower your confidence. Ask for evidence rather than reassurance.

- Is the Wi-Fi private to this unit or shared with other apartments or guests?
- Which provider and connection type do you use (fiber, cable, 4G/5G, satellite, and so on)?
- Could you send recent speed-test screenshots taken inside this unit, at the desk/workspace, showing download, upload, ping/latency, and, if available, jitter and packet loss?
- If practical, could you run one test in daytime and one in the evening?
- Is Ethernet available in the unit or at the workspace?
- Which mobile carrier has the best signal inside the apartment?
- Are power cuts common? If so, is there a UPS, generator, or other backup for the router and workspace, and approximately how long does it run?

Match your verification to the risk of your work

- The only fallback is a public café.
- The host says outages are rare but cannot explain what happens to the router during a blackout.

- Recent reviews give conflicting accounts of the connection.
- The host declines a reasonable request for basic evidence.
Test the connection as soon as you arrive
Even excellent pre-booking evidence cannot reproduce your exact laptop, employer VPN, work apps, and schedule. Test early—ideally before a cancellation or alteration window closes.
